Our latest Bike Give away winner!

Hello everyone,

My Open Road is proud to announce our latest Pedego Electric bike giveaway.

Just before the end of the school year of 2014 we had one last drawing at UC Irvine with Staff and Students.

And the winner is.... Mason Kington!

He picked up his new Pedego interceptor at the Pedego headquarters in Irvine. Mason had asked for his bike to be finished in brush aluminum with tan balloon tires. Pedego CEO Don DiCostanzo and the whole Pedego team came out to congratulate him on his win.

Mason was very proudly showing off his new ride to the UC Irvine staff. Having the staff excited about saving energy is quickly becoming a great tool helping the entire school work towards being one of the greenest campuses in the country.

New feature “carpool mode” announced

The MOR app can detect a wide range of transportation methods and rewards users for choosing the most energy-efficient means possible.  Driving a car gives users a "Social Responsibility Score" (SRS) of 500, while walking or skateboarding rewards users with an SRS of 1000.

The new “Carpool” mode will award users with a 700 SRS and go up depending on the number of people in the car.   The average SRS of the last ten trips are used to create a the overall "Social Responsibility Score," which can be used to get discounts from energy-conscious retail partners whose restaurants and stores will show up in the app interface. The My Open Road apps new “carpool” feature rewards users for ridesharing and further cutting CO2 emissions for both driver and passengers.

Best regards,

The My Open Road team.

MOR News January 2015

My Open Road hit the Consumer Electronics Show this month full bore. We brought fellow entrepreneur and My Open Road advocate Wing Lam to help promote our launch of both android and iOS versions of the mobile app at Showstoppers.

During the CES event My Open Road had a great booth in eureka park; we gave away free cookies and milk to about 400 visitors.

The biggest surprise we got was from a lot of YOU! About 10 students from UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Cal State Fullerton, and The University of Nevada Las Vegas showed up out of the blue to help us man out booth in eureka park, and we are forever grateful! Actually many of the students gave us the idea to form “street teams” for next year, but more on that later.

Manning our booth at CES!

We just want to say thank you everyone for keeping an eye on us. More good fun stuff to come in February!

By the way, MOR got a really nice write up from the Orange County Business Journal about our startupClick Here to View!

Look out for our exciting Valentine weekend “cheap date” buy one get one free using Our App in early February!!

Giving Back - MOR October Newsletter

Wing Lam educated the team on the philosophy of building a successful business and how to be a generous philanthropist. The My Open Road team set a goal to give 10% of raised money to local charities that share the same passion for saving energy. We decided to choose the OC Coastkeeper. http://www.coastkeeper.org/

The Indiegogo campaign was a success as we met our goals and made a lot of great friends along the way. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/my-open-road-earn-rewards-for-saving-energy-just-getting-around

After several months in development, the new brand identity of the My Open Road app was launched in September of 2014.

Keeping a campaign promise

In the first week of September, Jeff and Wing asked to meet with the OC Coastkeeper's to surprise them with a check for $6,000. The purpose of this donation was to keep a promise and give to the charity of original choice.

In celebration of meeting all goals, My Open Road held a Facebook giveaway to thank all for the major support. The winner of our Electric Pedego Bike giveaway was Jessica Ungerleider, a UC San Diego student. The ceremony was held last month where Jessica and her friends enjoyed lunch with the My Open Road team and other fellow community leaders.

**A very special shout out to our friends at Lyft who provided Jessica and her friends a round trip ride from San Diego to Orange County
